Yashwant as the NJS-Tailor

One day, Yashwant took the sewing machine out of the library and all of a sudden, many children living in the hostel started to give him their broken clothes to mend them.

In the picture below you can see Yashwant repairing the school uniforms for his friends.

The question why he knows how to sew he answered proudly:

“My father showed me how to do this!”

The Know-How of sewing is very important to Indian children. If they are struggling in their education, sewing still gives them a possibility to get a job after they leave school.
As a next project we will send some children to sewing classes regulary.

Documentation- Heartbreaking Life Stories

As a new project we started to write down together with Aneeta, Iris and Vicky the life stories of the children whose parents live in abject poverty and are not able to pay fees for their children's education.

In the photo you can see Tanushree and Yash during our interview.

Seema, the mother of the siblings, works as cook in the school. You can see her in the picture above.

Yash and Tanushree were one of the first children joining NJS and her mother Seema provided the hungry mouths of all the hostel children since the school and the hostel were set up with delicious food.

NJS offers completely free shelter, food, education and medical care to about 35 children who otherwise would live in abject poverty.

Help one of these 35 children and become a sponsor!
