Yashwant as the NJS-Tailor

One day, Yashwant took the sewing machine out of the library and all of a sudden, many children living in the hostel started to give him their broken clothes to mend them.

In the picture below you can see Yashwant repairing the school uniforms for his friends.

The question why he knows how to sew he answered proudly:

“My father showed me how to do this!”

The Know-How of sewing is very important to Indian children. If they are struggling in their education, sewing still gives them a possibility to get a job after they leave school.
As a next project we will send some children to sewing classes regulary.

  1. How wonderful. I am at a loss for words to tell you how happy I am to see Yeshwant sewing. He can teach the other children. They can learn to repair their own uniforms. Thank you so much Franzi and Nina for being with the children and supervising their projects. Fantastic!
