Donation of rice for NJS Kids

We sincerely thank Prafulla Dhote for donating monthly 100 kgs of rice to the children of NJS!

On the picture above you can see Prafulla who will provide the school with the first 50 kg of rice on the 26th of September sitting in the principal's office. Prafulla Dhote had been supplying books to our school since 2008. But due to sickness this year he was not able to donate books anymore. Therefore he decided to donate 100 kg of rice every month and also announced that he will look for people willing to sponsor a child.

We are so grateful for receiving such a great donation ensuring that the children from Nav- Jeevan get enough food. We thank Prafulla again for all that he has done to help us and our kids!

Saying Thank- You and Goodbye to Alice and Pascale

After one and a half months NJS had to say goodbye to Alice and Pascale. With tears in his eyes Sahil watched them leaving the compound heading back to the Netherlands where both continue their studies at university.

We had a great time together and the children took them to their hearts.

Together with their teachers the children prepared a gift for Alice and Pascale. For each letter of their names they found a word describing their characteristics.

P- for passionate
A- for adorable
S- for sincere
C- for confident
A- for admirable
L- for loving
E- for energetic

A- for active
L- for loyal
I- for innovative
C- for caring
E- for energetic

Iris Wilkinson attended the programme and gave a great speach on the volunteers, the school and the gratitude the kids have been showing towards us.

Many students performed beautiful songs and poems.

Anurag hands over Aneeta's birthday present to her mother Iris because unfortunately Aneeta could not attend the programme this day.

Alice and Pascale used the possibility to express their gratitude towards the children, the teachers, all NJS- staff members and of course towards Iris.

Alice and Pascale, thank you for being with us, we miss you!

Sex Education: The Second Session

Today's sex education started with a concentration game which Bavna, a student of the Social Work Collage of Nagpur, conducted.

The proud winners were the clever girls Isha and Saloni.

The topic for this session was: Changes During Puperty

After having discussed the homework Jogita and the girls talked about how the mind, body and behaviour change during young ages and about how this process affects the other gender. The girls listened very carefully throughout the whole session- those are changes and thoughts that affect all of them.

Little by little they approach important topic such as AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.

Teachers Day at Nav- Jeevan

Self-Government at the Dr.T.S. Wilkinson Memorial School

Teachers Day is celebrated in many countries and the studens of Nav- Jeevan held a special programme to thank their teachers for their work.

"Happy Teachers Day"

Teachers enjoyed their reversed role.

The studens of ninth class work as teachers and Megha is the new principal.
In the photo you can see her standing beside Vicky Simon - the real principal.

The students take their roles very seriously and are well prepared for their classes. Controlling a whole class is a new challenge for them that they face with passion.

Yashwant and Rahul give a speech to honour the work of their teachers. You can see Yashwant in the right corner of the photo

Of course the children of Nav- Jeevan never miss the chance to perform a "Bollywood" dance.

Here you can see Priyanka and Meghan announcing Varsha's dance which is shown in the big picture.

Teachers Quiz:

Team A

Team B

 Team C

And the winner is...

...Team C!!

Clothes Line Instead of Barbwire

Before...

Sahil used the barbwire to dry his laundry.

One afternoon we started to put five iron rods in concret.

Yashwant got cement from the construction workers building the new dormitories on the compound and we mixed it with sand and water.

Now the children can dry their laundry properly.

Thank you to all the children that helped!
